Every Change This Website Ever Made

Every commit to this site, drawn as a point of light on a three-year timeline. It sat nearly silent for three years, then erupted. Hover any point to read the change, click to open the commit on GitHub, and scroll down for the token firehose that powers it.

Each point of light is one commit. Across is time, height is how many lines it changed, colour is which corner of the site it touched. Scroll to zoom, drag to pan, hover a point to read it, click to open it on GitHub. It opens on the spring-2026 eruption, the month this became a thing I build with language models instead of by hand; scroll out to see the three near-silent years before it.

The fuel

That eruption runs on tokens, lately on the order of a billion a day.

11.9Btokens in May to date, two machines
1.54Bin a single day (May 23)
~7.9Mtokens per Apr 23-now commit
~$9,300at public API prices
Tokens burned per day · May 2026 to date

The same eruption, in fuel: May 22–24 each cleared a billion tokens, May 25 added another 703 million, and a second wave over May 28–31 poured in 3.1 billion more.

Almost none of it is new writing. About 97% is the models re-reading context they already hold, a 36,000-line game file, design bibles, the whole conversation, on every single turn. The bright column above is the exhaust.
